Achieving Frontline Harmony While Transforming Business Operations
There is no question frontline work differs signifi cantly from industry to industry. The day-to-day work a manager does at a retail store is vastly different from what a chef does in the kitchen, or a nurse does during a shift in the ER.
Fundamentally, however, all of it can be grouped into one of four pillars of frontline work: task management, scheduling, learning, and communication.
Modern technology has provided a signifi cant boost to these pillars, as Workforce Management (WFM) applications have started taking what were once analog processes and turning them digital to drive operational effi ciencies. The problem is that many of these solutions have originated from WFM companies that offer single point solutions that address only one pillar or overly complicated solutions employees must fumble through. With so much responsibility on the shoulders of frontline workers, tools designed to make their job easier shouldn’t be complicated to use.
Cue the super app which, simply put, is an application that combines multiple tools into one; A Swiss Army Knife of frontline operations, so to speak. Workforce analytics, scheduling, and task management features in super apps have seen a signifi cant uptick in demand which highlights the critical role workforce management plays in organizational success today. The days of break room bulletin boards, complicated paper schedules, clipboard task lists and training conducted around a computer monitor in the back of the house are behind us.
